It wouldn’t be Comic Con without Star Wars

Los Angeles area gamers will be heading to their local Gamestops and Best Buys in droves to preorder the newly announced Star Wars must-haves.  Microsoft and RPG standard bearer Bioware took the occasion of Comic Con to announce their Star Wars packages.  Microsoft announced a limited edition Xbox Bundle and Bioware showed three options for their upcoming Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic.  Both packages will follow the Blu Ray release of the Star Wars movies this fall.  Although no official dates for the games have been released, local Gamestop locations are already taking deposits.

The new Xbox 360 holiday bundle is an R2-D2 and C-3PO branded Xbox with a white Kinect sensor, 320GB hard drive and more.  This custom R2-D2-themed Xbox 360 console features custom sounds and the gold C-3PO controller is complete with the droid’s exposed wiring.  The package also boasts the new Star Wars Kinect game, Kinect Adventures and a download token for more exclusive content.  The 320 GB hard drive will be the largest available and the entire bundle is priced at $449.99.

Star Wars: The Old Republic, for those that don’t know is the upcoming Bioware MMO set in the Star Wars universe.  The game will allow you to choose your class from a variety of classic Star Wars roles including Jedi Knight, Bounty Hunter, and Smuggler. You will be able to make decisions which define your personal story and determine your path down the light or dark side of the Force.  Along the way you will befriend companions who will fight at your side and together, you can battle enemies in dynamic Star Wars combat or team up with other players to overcome incredible challenges.

The game will be available in a standard edition, a digital only deluxe edition and very limited Collector’s Edition priced at $149.99.  The Limited Collector’s Edition is unfortunately not available for pre-order at local Gamestop stores.  For those that want to go online, it will feature an exclusive Gentle Giant Darth Malgus statue, Star Wars: The Old Republic game disks in collectible metal case, The Journal of Master Gnost-Dural annotated by Satele Shan, a Star Wars: The Old Republic galaxy map, Custom Security Authentication Key and the Music of Star Wars: The Old Republic CD in addition to a slew of downloadable content and month of service included.
