Prima The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Official Game Guide Book Review

The Witcher 3, Wild Hunt, Prima, GuideSince the official announcements for both The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, “The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt” has been one of the most anticipated video games. Touted as 30 times the size of the previous installments, horses and boats are required to traverse the game’s huge map.  Even with the added modes of transportation, completing the whole adventure can take over a hundred hours. This hugely ambitious role-playing game marks the conclusion of Geralt of Rivia’s tale, and Prima Games has an official game guide to help you complete every quest.

Prima’s “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Official Game Guide” book dedicates 150 pages to a comprehensive walkthrough of the game’s prologue and three acts, and again almost the same amount of pages for all of the secondary quests. At the end of all of that, the guide covers all of the game’s multiple endings, including the significant character, and final endings. Of course romance is a huge part of the mature rated “The Witcher 3” game, and each of the opportunities, along with the possible consequences are all covered in the guide as well.

The Witcher 3, Wild Hunt, Prima, GuideThe remaining third of Prima’s “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Official Game Guide” is made up of the atlas and the appendices and compendiums. The atlases are particularly valuable because many of the images that accompany the quest portion of the guide are small. Luckily, the game’s vibrant art direction makes most of the thumbnails decipherable, however the maps do make things easier. The Gwent card list and their locations are fully covered here too, along with bestiary. The item and crafting recipe lists are also included, but some of the more specific details are only available in the included e-guide.

There is no game, released in the first half of 2015 that needs a guide more than “The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt.” At almost 500 pages, Prima’s “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Official Game Guide” is a worthy investment. If you can find one still available, the hardcover Collector’s Edition also includes a 32 page art section, and a second book, “A Fractured Land: Tales of The Northern Realms.” This 96 page companion book is filled with biographical notes, lore, and exclusive marginalia art compiled by David S. J. Hodgson and the game’s story team at CD Project Red. Either way, these books will see a lot of use as you work your way through “The Witcher 3.”
